Dreambert and Bedsmith, two Pi'illos, wake up one morning with no memory of who they are, where they are, or how they got there. They wake up in a strange house, in an unfamiliar town, feeling lost and disoriented. Just as panic sets in, a strange man named Wonky appears, claiming to be their father. He suggests that he must have passed out watching TV the night before, but before he can explain further, things get even stranger. A being named Starlow, a Star Sprite, appears, claiming to be their friend. She says that they had planned to go out together, but Dreambert and Bedsmith have no memory of her or any such plans. They reluctantly follow Starlow outside, unsure of their surroundings. He walks around town, acting as if he doesn't recognize either his surroundings or Starlow. Despite their confusion, Starlow continues to interact with them as if they were long-time friends. Showing them around, Starlow patiently explains their supposed friendship and names, trying to reassure them. Dreambert and Bedsmith, however, remain confused, unable to understand their past or their relationship with Starlow. As the day progresses, Starlow becomes increasingly concerned. At first, she thinks they are just pretending to forget. However, as their strange behavior continues, she begins to worry that something is wrong with their memories. By the end of the day, Starlow's uncertainty deepens and she begins to wonder if there is more to their forgetfulness. Dreambert and Bedsmith are sent back to the house they woke up in, and Wonky - still claiming to be their father - gives them an unfamiliar bed. Too tired and confused to protest, they go to bed. As they fall asleep, questions about their identities, their pasts, and the cause of their sudden amnesia begin to creep into their minds. The mystery of their lost memories remains unsolved, and they fall into a fitful sleep, unsure of what the future holds.
